Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Operates slitter to cut material per Job Sheet/Standard Manufacturing Procedure (SMP) specifications by performing the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1.   Obtains Job Sheet/SMP from Plexus.
  2.   Reads Job Sheet/SMP to determine number and width of material cuts.
  3.   Sets up blades and spacers per Job Sheet/SMP specifications.
  4.  Sets up exit spacers to direct material to recoiler.
  5.  Operates forklift to transport material.
  6.  Cuts core to length according to specifications.
  7.  Operates tilt cart to load coil material onto uncoiler.
  8.  Processes material through machine to slit material.
  9. Uses caliper to measure material dimensions to ensure that slit material meets specifications.
 10.  Bands, ties, tapes, and otherwise fastens finished material.
 11.  Loads material on skids for transportation using power hoist.
 12.  Completes Slitter Log with applicable information and records into Plexus.
 13.  Prints individual and master labels from Plexus.
 14.  Performs routine/general maintenance repair on machine.
 15.  Notifies supervisor of safety or quality concerns.
 16.  Cleans tools, equipment, machines, and work area.
 17.  Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

 

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Knowledge of basic computer and keyboard use. Ability to use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers. Forklift license required.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, nd other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to work any continuous or fixed shift schedule including any day of the calendar week as required for operation of the position and mandatory overtime as implemented by management. 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Equal Pay Act Range

Hourly Range $17.96 to $22.20 plus benefits and incentive plans.
