Position Summary

Under the direction of the EHS Manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, management, and monitoring of site Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, procedures, and policies for ITT Aerospace Controls Valencia. The Specialist will help ensure site compliance with all applicable Cal/OSHA, SCAQMD, DTSC, RCRA, RWQCB, local, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze EHS data and publishes daily & weekly summaries.
  • Facilitate new hire and ongoing safety trainings and maintains recordkeeping.
  • Manage Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) observations and Incident and Injury Cases entered into GENSUITE – EHS Management Software
  • Coordinate and performs Job Hazard Analysis, Ergonomic Assessments, and other assessments as directed.
  • Assist in developing a process to document Lockout/Tagout procedures and compliance audits.
  • Performs weekly compliance inspections for waste, cranes, safety equipment, etc.  
  • Assists with Incident Investigations and Injury Case Management.
  • Develop weekly safety & ergonomic training bulletins and communicates new information out.
  • Coordinates the safety shoes and prescription safety glasses programs.
  • Monitors SCAQMD Spray Booth Permit Compliance   
  • Performs a variety of duties related to the implementation of the site’s EHS Management system and its associated programs.
  • Provides support for the Injury & Illness Prevention Program, air, water and waste compliance, hazard communication program, control of hazardous energy program, machine safeguarding, electrical safety program, and ergonomics program etc.
  • Assist with preparing, maintaining, and updating or environmental and safety policies and procedure manuals.
  • Collects utility bills and data for entry into monthly EHS performance metrics to site and ITT corporate management.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Occupational Health or other related field
  • 3+ years of industry related EHS experience, prior experience in aerospace manufacturing preferred
  • Experience with Lockout Tagout and Machine Safeguarding  
  • ISO 14001 Management Experience is a plus
  • RCRA/ DOT Training & Hazardous Materials and Waste Management experience
  • Exceptional organization skills and possesses proven ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Certifications

  • First Aid/CPR/AED
  • 24 or 40 hr Hazwoper
  • OSHA 501

The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.

$78,200 - $116,800
