Position Summary

ITT Goulds Pumps is looking for a Quality Engineer to join their team in Seneca Falls, NY. The Quality Engineer is responsible for the administration of the Quality Program within the assigned operation. This job encompasses the identification of improvement opportunities, as well as the investigation, analysis and implementation of solutions to quality issues.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prevention – Eliminate nonconformance, defect costs and delays by identifying potential problem areas and taking actions or directing actions that prevent potential problems from becoming real ones.
    • Participate in the development and implementation of quality plans
    • Apply data, such as Statistical Process Control, in decisions aimed at improving quality
    • Provide technical support required to enhance supplier competence and performance
    • Apply quality tools to enhance operation’s and support functions’ competence and performance
  • Quality System Maintenance and Improvement – Provide leadership and support for all aspects of the Quality Assurance program in conjunction with other  Q.E.’s and the Quality organization
    • Analyze quality costs, develop and generate reports and , or actions to drive improvement
    • Assist in identifying the need for, and the creation of Salvage/scrap tickets, DAR’s, CAPA’s, etc. Collect and analyze data
  • Identify Quality Problems:
    • Analyze scrap and rework. Report and recommend.
    • Review and investigate customer complaints, compile data and document findings.
    • Communicate supplier and internal quality problems and analyze corrective data.
    • Investigate problem areas, confer with relevant department personnel to arrive at a proper conclusion or decision
  • Interface with suppliers at the plant as well as attend visits to supplier locations to deal with issues as they occur.

Position Requirements

Education: 4 Year Engineering/Technical degree with a minimum of 5 years Experience (machining and quality related)

  • High degree of interpersonal skills to deal with the levels of shop and supplier management

  • Knowledge of machine shop, inspection and testing processes
  • Strong Communication Skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong Computer Skills (AS400, Access, Excel, Word, Shop Floor & Intranet)

  • Ability to read and understand Design Drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)
  • Ability to use Standard Measuring Devices
  • Knowledge of Foundry Terminology and Processes helpful.
  • Job Shop experience a plus
  • Statistical Process Control knowledge; able to read trends
  • VBLSS Training or certification desirable

Specific benefits are dependent upon whether or not the position is part of a collective-bargaining agreement. The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.

Equal Pay Act Range

Annual Salary range $78,100 to $116,900 plus benefits and incentive bonus.
