Responsibility includes the development, implementation and monitoring of Safety, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental protection policies and programs. Ensure complete site compliance to all OSHA, EPA, DOT, RCRA, and application DOL local, state and federal regulations.
Provide advice and guidance to operating and functional staff organizations including Managers and Manufacturing regarding current and anticipated EHS-related issues. Align safety and environmental programs and metrics to address current and new requirements, concerns, and ITT protocols.
Supervise the implementation and conformance to ITT Environmental, safety and health policies, protocols and programs.
Collect and report information as required to meet Corporate and Governmental reporting requirements in addition to ensuring a uniform level of performance.
Assist in developing EHS policies and related programs applicable to the Site to ensure our compliance with Environmental regulations, RCRA, OSHA, DOT, applicable DOL and EPA requirements and all compliance activities for these regulatory agencies.
Develop and update training programs as necessary by ITT policy or regulation. Monitor training program performance to ensure training is performed as required.
Participate and provide assistance in projects involving new operations, construction or demolition, equipment purchases as well as chemical uses to ensure that appropriate EHS requirements and conformance to the ITT ESH policies are considered.
Develop and work with Supervision/Management to implement all activities with respect to injury prevention , loss control, life safety, area safety audits and personal protection equipment programs.
Work with global manufacturing and engineering to ensure conformance with product safety requirements.
Ensure that all departments use proper procedures for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal.
Assist in developing and training on injury prevention requirements, site emergency response and life safety applicable requirements.
Provide assistance with Workers’ Compensation reporting, claims and tracking of individual cases.
Provide technical support and information in the development of key metrics and objectives.
Lead first line supervision and management to implement multifaceted Environment Safety and Health programs. Attributes include machine safeguards, , ergonomics, waste/emissions reduction, Job Hazard Analysis and program assessment activities.
Lead incident investigations and root cause corrective action plans and corrective action implementation
Provide EHS leadership, direction & influence for site supervision and management to assimilate their EHS responsibilities into daily work processes & procedures through the EHS Accountability program
Leads audits and trains new audit team members/leaders in order to evaluate the effectiveness of local programs. Provides audit & action plan follow-up/assistance. In an imminent danger situation actions may include shut down of specific operations of concern.
Work with ESH Value Center lead as necessary to roll out EHS-related programs to the Site.
Provide training as necessary to ensure the Site complies to local, state and federal regulations and ITT policies.
Participation in ITT EHS audits, at least one/year, is required.
Develop and rollout injury prevention campaigns to reinforce key elements of site injury prevention and compliance programs.
Where applicable incorporate injury prevention and environmental compliance requirements into operations standard operating procedures
Take a lead role in developing and coordination site cross functional injury prevention committee
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in environmental, safety and/or health science; or engineering; or science discipline and at least 3 years of experience in EHS or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with regulatory reporting such as hazardous material business plans, hazardous waste generations and remittance if applicable fees. Experience with monitoring devices such as sound level meter, multi-gas meters, force gauges etc.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
OSHA 10 or 40 hours, DOT and RCRA certification, knowledge in Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), hazardous waste, waste and storm water, emissions, regulations, accident investigation and root cause determination, injury prevention via hazard identification and mitigation with the use of effective controls, proficient in completing risk assessment related equipment use/functions, materials and chemicals, ergonomics etc. Ability to develop and implement layered injury prevent audits and compliance audits. at least an awareness level of applicable Federal, State and Local Environmental regulations including all reporting requirements, .
