Position Summary

This position will assist all operations of the plant in functions such as but not limited to assembly, machine shop, foundry, stock room, and other areas of manufacturing as needed.  May perform work on other shifts due to work force adjustments, job bidding, or absence of regular operators.  Fill in performing other miscellaneous duties as production requires. 

Essential Responsibilities

Tasks:

Depending on where assigned, work may include but is not limited to:

  • May operate simple machining equipment such as grinder.
  • May operate lift truck or other material moving equipment.
  • May clean up castings, clean machines.
  • May perform inventory, cycle counts.
  • May do painting.
  • May perform general clean-up.
  • Follow relevant work instructions and/or SOP.

 

Technology Skills:

  • Uses the appropriate electronic or manual system to perform the work of the job or department.
  • May use computer systems to enroll in benefits and interact with other company data systems.*

 

 

Knowledge:

  • Reading, writing, speaking, comprehension and computer skills in the English language, typically developed through high school education or equivalent, with the ability to communicate effectively via all these modes.*
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing good customer services. This includes meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Mathematics- Knowledge of basic arithmetic; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Must be able to comprehend the meaning of the calculation.

Position Requirements

Physical Abilities:

  • Extent Flexibility- The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Near Vision- The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Static Strength- The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Arm-Hand Steadiness- The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Manual Dexterity- The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.
  • Reaction Time- The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture), or to an error, when it appears.
  • Ability to perceive and interpret information through the senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch at a level considered normal for a healthy adult. Must exhibit good balance.
  • Maximum lifting requirement is 40 lbs.; any material of greater weight must be moved using machinery.

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Must wear required safety equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses.
  • May involve occasional outdoor exposure to hot, cold, and/or damp weather.
  • May involve exposure to dusts, metal chips, oils, solvents, fumes, and odors from the industrial environment (appropriate personal protective equipment is provided.)

 

Supervision

 

This position does not supervise others.

 

During initial training, the incumbent will require close supervision, with supervisor contact several times per day.  After demonstration of sustained full comprehension of work instructions, safety procedures, and general department knowledge, daily contact with supervision may reduce to once or twice per day.

Education Required:

 

  • Equivalent to high school education required.

Experience Required:

Requires 3+ months past successful work experience demonstrating the ability to:

  • Learn and follow instructions of simple to moderate complexity,
  • Perform basic math skills
  • Provide good customer service,
  • Perform basic problem solving, taking initiative to ask questions when uncertain, and act when appropriate.
  • Preferred past work experience in a manufacturing, mechanical or warehousing environment.

Hourly rate $22.14 to $25.13Plus benefits
