Position Summary

DESCRIPTION

This position will identify and implement strategies to enhance and streamline trade compliance controls and target participation in trade programs to deliver savings or enhanced benefit to stakeholders. The role will work with senior management to ensure adherence to law and regulations governing North American import/export compliance and Trade Compliance Policy.

 

LOCATION

Seneca Falls, NY (Hybrid work schedule -  will consider remote for the ideal candidate)

Ideal candidate would be located in Western NY

 

Essential Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, mentor & develop import/export compliance personnel including hiring, goal setting, performance, coaching, teamwork, and projects.
  • Manage import/export processes, including classification, origin, ECCN, valuation, licensing, and documentation requirements, to facilitate the smooth flow of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs. In the US & Canada
  • Manage free trade agreement programs.
  • Prepare export license applications and commodity classification requests.
  • Maintenance of import/export compliance master data based on U.S. Customs and country specific trade laws.
  • Oversee & enhance trade service provider performance reporting & performance management.
  • Review communication from U.S. Customs and respond appropriately. Ensure responses are timely and are reviewed by Legal and/or the Director, Trade Compliance before submission.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs to educate employees on import/export control laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Provides technical advice to business personnel on trade matters.
  • Continuously assess savings opportunities across the IP Value Center, making recommendations to increase savings through applicable duty-reduction programs. Capture savings and report to TC Director on quarterly basis.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including legal, finance, engineering, sales, and supply chain teams, to ensure trade compliance requirements are integrated into business processes and decision-making.
  • Work with the Director, Trade Compliance on special projects

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:                     

  • Bachelors Degree and 7+ years international trade experience
  • US Customs Broker License strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of US and Canada rules and regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of implementing regulatory requirements in a manufacturing/operations environment
  • Free Trade Agreement experience
  • Must have proven ability to lead cross functional teams and influence change in a complex, multi-level organization.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring team members through change.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter.
  • Ability to discern/make judgments on classification, origin and ECCN
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task in fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Strong business ethics
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization
  • Export and licensing experience
  • Proficient in Internal Control implementation/monitoring
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent follow-through
  • Advanced Excel skills (i.e. formulas, pivot tables, vlookup…)
  • Must be willing and able to travel +25%

The salary offered to a candidate is based several factors such as candidate experience and qualifications, location, as well as market and business considerations.

Equal Pay Act Range

Annual Salary Range $99,500 to $148,900 Plus Benefis and Incentive Plans.
