At ITT, we are seeking an experienced Lead Data Engineer to guide and execute our data engineering strategies across the enterprise, with a focus on Microsoft Azure technologies. The Lead Data Engineer will be part of the Data Analytics & AI team, responsible for supervising a team of professionals, leading efforts in designing and scaling the company’s data architecture in the cloud, pipeline development, and production readiness of data-driven solutions on the Azure platform. This role requires a hands-on approach, driving the design and implementation of solutions that will power our data initiatives.

• At least 6 years of experience in data engineering, including work with data architecture design, data pipeline development, and cloud data platforms, specifically Microsoft Azure
• Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable, cloud-based data architectures using Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, or Cosmos DB)
• Experience in collaborating with business teams and technical teams to deliver data solutions that align with business goals
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams and/or projects with ability to manage competing priorities and drive successful deliver of data solutions
• Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and optimization for both relational and non-relational databases
• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern data engineering frameworks such as Apache Spark or Databricks
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools like Azure Data Factory, Airflow and containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes within the Azure environment
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• A team-oriented mindset and a passion for data-driven innovation

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with version control tools (git), working in dev and production environments
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for data deployment using Jenkins, Azure DevOps and automation frameworks
• Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric as a modern data platform will be considered a strong plus

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or STEM
• Master’s Degree (or higher) in Data Engineering, Data Science, or a related field is considered a strong plus
