ITT is seeking individuals to operate in a fast-paced, high-energy, start-up environment to launch new sustainable products to market with accelerated commercial success. Flow machines (pumps, fans, compressors) are one of the largest consumers of energy on the planet and account for approximately 35% of global electricity consumption. ITT is developing new technologies in electric motors, power electronics and smart connected devices that reduce energy of flow machines as much as 50%.
The Electrical Test Field Technician, VIDAR (EMD) is responsible for testing power electronics and electric motors. The system testing will evaluate performance, functionality, and eventual certification with the final goal of product launch. S/he will be accountable to achieve testing goals stated for the final product of this new VIDAR initiative.
• Install, assemble and testing of electro-mechanical and electronic systems in lab environment
• Supervise and assist installation and commission of motor-drives at customer locations
• Support VIDAR operations to develop and execute new operating model. Tasks include coordinating with logistics, suppliers, customers and supporting implementation of standard operating process, workflows and ERP.
• Record information and results about product performance
• Assist in the commissioning of new test rigs
• Communicate with customers, team members, engineers and managers to determine possible problems or update individuals with work progress, on a daily basis.
• Decipher complex schematics, drawings, diagrams, blueprints and instructions
• Diagnose and repair problems with electro-mechanical and electronic systems, malfunctioning circuitry networks, and ineffective electronic equipment
• Partner with mechanical or electrical engineers to fine tune the testing and diagnostic processes
• Recommend upgrades and modifications to improve system performance
• Maintain all tools, equipment and components by performing inventory and scheduled maintenance tasks, ensuring calibration of equipment and scheduling replacements
• Operate power and manual tools safely to avoid accidents
• Make cable and wiring connections accurately
• Maintain documentations of system installation and maintenance procedures
• Travel: 50%
• Associate degree in electronics/engineering or completion of a certificate program in the field
• 3+ years as an electronics test technician or field-service technician
• Experience with using DMMs and Oscilloscopes to troubleshoot electronic circuits
• Experience with troubleshooting sensor and communication signals connected to a data acquisition system (LabVIEW, National Instruments, Dewesoft)
• Experience with power electronics, variable frequency drives and electrical motors
• Knowledge of industry safety standards
• Knowledge of mechanical installation and alignment of motors
